perpare equipment for normal birth
provide a clean and warm environment
provide analgesis
how is the birth of the head performed?
as head edvances encourage mother to push with contractions
if head is birthing too fast encourage panting with an open mouth
place fingers on babies head to reduce force of decent
apply gental pressure to the peritenum to help reduce tearing
if needed provide gental backward and downward pressure on head to stop forceful expulsion- dont hold back - note down time of head
what to do after the birth of the head?
check if chord is wrapped around neck- if yes and loose unloop
if tight- encourage mother to push- when baby doesnt decent- clamp and cut chord
what happens after the birth of the head?
resitution indicating rotation of shpoulders and preperatuon for birth of the bidy
what is done for the birth of the shoulders body?
passive or guided
hold head between hands and if required gental downward traction to deliver posterior shoulder
gental upward pressure to birth posterior shoulder- body follw quicky
support baby
note time of birth and place skin to skin unless requires resucitation
what would indicate that we need to manage as per shoulder dystocia?
if body fails to deliver over 60 seconds after head or with two contractions
