Endochondral ossification
A
- Formation of bone collar around hyaline cartilage
- Matrix begins to calcify
- Lack of nutrients causes chondrocytes to die
- Blood vessels come in with osteoblasts and osteoclasts and turn matrix into spongy bone
- Medullary cavity is created
- Periosteum is formed
- Bone begins to elongate
- Centers if epiphysis begins to calcify and secondary ossification center forms
