What is considered a serious off duty or severe illness/injury?
Off duty illness/injury requiring the employee to seek hospital treatment and/or be off work for more than 2 shifts
Other than the on duty battalion chief who else will be notified asap as the status of the employee becomes known?
Assistant Fire Chief
If necessary who may the Assistant Fire chief appoint?
A Family Liaison Officer
What are the 2 roles of the Family Liaison Officer?
- Maintain family contact (unless the family specifies otherwise) to provide any necessary assistance to the family and to give information back to the department as to the patients progress
- Provide ongoing assistance/information to the family regarding payroll, sick leave, insurance, etc.
What is required from the employee following an off duty injury or sickness requiring an extended absence from duty before returning to duty?
Release back to duty from the members physician
What 3 things must the Release back to duty contain?
- Nature of the injury or illness
- Is the employee released for full duty assignment?
- If not, what restrictions, if any, are necessary? Is the employee released to an alternate duty assignment?
Other than a Release back to duty what else is required of an employee returning to work after an extended injury/illness?
