What are complications for first trimester?
Polyurea
Nausea and vomiting
Breast pain/tenderness
Weakness and fatigue
What are complications for second trimester?
Constipation
Heartburn
Leg cramps
What are complications for the third trimester?
Hemorrhoids
Varicose veins
Leg cramps
Braxton hicks contractions
What are some changes in mother’s physiology?
Pulse increases
Blood volume increases but not RBC
Cardiac output increases
BP goes down
Resps are increased with decreased volume
What is an ectopic pregnancy?
A pregnancy located outside of the uterus
What are symptoms of ectopic pregnancy?
Missed menses with abdomen pain
Vaginally bleed, hypotension and shock
What is placenta previa?
Placenta is positioned low in uterus and presented first.
High risk patients are multiple pregnancies and greater than 35 years.
What is abruptio placenta?
Premature detachment of a normally situated placenta
Dark red blood
What is pre - eclampsia?
Dysregulation of hormones can cause dangerous levels of fluid retention and vasocinstriction and leads to hypertension.
What is uterine rupture?
Occurs at the onset of labour
Minimal vaginal bleeding
Tearing sensation in abdomen.
