Description
Cardiovascular drug-blood pressure lowering agent.
Uses
Short term parenteral treatment, particularly for patients with increased ICP / subarachnoid hemorrhage.
Adult Dose
Dilute to 0.1 mg/ml. Start infusion at 50 ml/hr (5 mg/hr). May increase rate by 2.5 mg/hr every 15 minutes until desired BP is reached. Max dose is 15 mg/hr.

Action
Works by relaxing blood vessels, which helps to lower blood pressure.

Contraindications
Hypotension, aortic stenosis, caution with renal failure and hepatic dysfunction.
Considerations
Caution in pregnant or lactating patients.

Dizziness, Headache, Nausea, Upset stomach, Vomiting.
