Class
Antiarrhythmic
Adult Dose
Vfib / pulseless V tach: Loading dose 1-1.5 mg/kg IV or IO. If arrhythmia continues, repeat dose once in 10 minutes.
Follow with a infusion, 2 mg/min IV.
Ventricular Arrhythmia: Loading dose 1 mg/kg IV over 2-3 minutes then may repeat after 10 minutes.
Follow with a infusion, 2 mg/min IV.
Max adult dose
3 mg/kg or 300 mg/hr
Pediatric dose
Ventricular arrhythmia (wide complex tachycardia or Vfib /pulseless Vtach): Use with medical control approval. Loading dose 1 mg/kg IV or IO. Infusion 20-50 mcg/kg/min IV or IO.
Max pediatric dose
Loading dose max 100 mg.
Action
Decreases the diastolic depolarization and automaticity in the ventricles.
Indication
Ventricular arrhythmia, Vfib
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to lidocaine or other like drugs.
Considerations
Use with caution in patients with any degree of heart block.
Side effects
CNS: Dizziness, numbness, shivering, somnolence, seizure, malignant hyperthermia.
CV: Bradycardia, hypotension, heart block, cardiac arrest.
