Q

what do neurons do

A

Neurons connect to create a new trace in the brain, this is called dendritic branching as the dendrites of the neurons grow in numbers and connect with other neurons

It’s supported and promoted by continued stimulating and demanding activities
As we learn, our brain gradually reshapes itself

Q

what is a neural network

A

A neural network is a series of connected neurons that send signals along pathways and information travels along these networks, enabling us to do things
They can change as a result of sociocultural or personal experiences, or as a result of brain injury

Q

Synaptic pruning

A

When synaptic connections are not used, they may be eliminated. This is called synaptic pruning and increases the effectiveness of the more commonly used neural networks.

Synaptic pruning can be studied by observing changes in grey matter using MRI scanners. More grey matter = more synaptic connections and neural networks
