NATOPS Chap 7- Checklist Flashcards
NATOPS
Chap 7
What are you checking for in each compartment?
- In each location, inspect for corrosion, Foreign Object Damage (FOD), condition, and security
- Check that all securing hardware is safety-wired, cotter-keyed, and/or slipmarked.
NATOPS
Chap 7
Why should you always maintain control of the Hyd’s Bay Cover?
In winds over 10 knots or nearby jet blast/rotor wash, the hydraulics bay cover can be blown off when in transit or in the open position and may cause loss of the bay cover and/or cause personnel injury
NATOPS
Chap 7
What happens if you have an improperly installed LDS roll pin?
Improper installation of the LDS roll pin may result in an engine overspeed. Proper installation is indicated by the LDS roll pin protruding from both sides of the LDS control cable rod and the collective bias tube with the safety wire intact.
NATOPS
Chap 7
What are you looking for on the main rotor head with blades spread?
MRB lockpins engaged, pitch locks retracted, flap restraint cams do not bind and are free to rotate.
NATOPS
Chap 7
What are the 5 things you are looking for in the Eng Compartment?
- Engine oil filler caps —
- No. 1/No. 2 engines — Oil level.
- Engine oil/fuel filter PDIs — Flush.
- Deswirl duct clamps — Secure.
- Engine compartments.
NATOPS
Chap 7
What are you concerned about with an over serviced TGB
An over-serviced tail gearbox and/or a red tint to the tail gearbox oil are possible signs of contamination with hydraulic fluid. Failure of the tail gearbox is possible.
NATOPS
Chap 7
Can you move the controls without Hyd’s on?
Moving flight controls without first-or second-stage pressure on the primary servos may cause damage to the flight controls.
NATOPS
Chap 7
Without AC power, which Fire bottle is operative?
Only the RESERVE position of the FIRE EXTGH switch will operate without ac power.
NATOPS
Chap 7
What should you not do if the APU Shutdowns on Start up?
Donot cycle the BATT switch or turn off the APU CTRL switch if the APU shuts down during start or after it is running. This removes the cause of the shutdown from the APU BITE indicator.
NATOPS
Chap 7
What do you do if you’re trying to spread the blades and one gets stuck in the APU exhaust?
Shut downthe APU immediately if a rotor blade remains stalled in the APU exhaust.
NATOPS
Chap 7
What do you inspect if you do not have a Flight light?
If the PYLON FLIGHT light is not illuminated, the pylon and stabilator lockpins and the tail rotor indexer shall be visually inspected prior to flight. Failure to do so may cause separation of the tail pylon.
NATOPS
Chap 7
What can happen if you leave the Blade Fold Switch in Spread for longer than 5-7 seconds?
With a malfunctioning microswitch or blade fold logic module, keeping the BLADEFOLD switch in SPREAD longer than 5 to 7 seconds may cause the blade fold lockpins to fully retract, resulting in an uncommanded blade fold and possible damage to the aircraft.
NATOPS
Chap 7
What should you do if on external power and mission power is on prior to turning on the Backup pump? This is only for specific DDGs
On ships without 400 Hz Aircraft Electrical Servicing System (AESS) Power Converters installed (Currently DDG 79 to 84, 86, 91,93,95): If the backup pump must be secured, mission power must be secured prior to turning the backup pump back on to avoid damaging ship electrical service system current limiters.
NATOPS
Chap 7
When is the hover caret displayed, and when can it be controlled?
The hover altitude caret is not displayed until mission computer has taken control.
The hover altitude caret will not respond on both FDs until the primary mission computer is in control.
NATOPS
Chap 7
When won’t the CHIP IBIT work?
Chip IBIT test will not function without the primary and backup computer on.
