Muscles of the Shoulder Complex Flashcards
What is the origin of the trapezius?
Occipital bone, nuchal ligament, and spinous processes of C7-T12.
What is the insertion of the trapezius?
Spine of scapula, acromion, and clavicle.
What are the actions of the trapezius?
Superior fibers - Scapular elevation
Middle fibers - Scapular adduction
Inferior fibers - Scapular depression
All - fibers - Upward scapular rotation
What innervates the trapezius?
Spinal accessory nerve (CN-XI).
What is the origin of the levator scapulae?
Transverse processes of upper cervical vertebrae.
What is the insertion of the the levator scapulae?
Superior angle of the scapula.
What are the actions of the levator scapulae?
Elevation and downward rotation of the scapula.
What innervates the levator scapulae?
Dorsal scapular nerve (C5).
What is the origin of the rhomboid major?
Spinous processes of T2-T5.
What is the origin of the rhomboid minor?
Spinous processes of C7-T1.
What is the insertion of the rhomboid major and minor?
Medial border of the scapula.
What are the actions of the rhomboid major and minor?
Adduction of the scapula.
What innervates the rhomboid major and minor?
Dorsal scapular nerve (C5).
What is the origin of the Pectoralis Minor?
Ribs 3-5
What is the insertion of the Pectoralis Minor?
Coracoid process of the scapula.
