Motor programme Flashcards
What is a motor programme?
A set of movements stored as a whole in the memory, regardless of whether feedback is used in their execution.
What is a sub routine?
When a few chunks have been chained together is forms a sub routine
How are sub routines then used through chaining?
Sub routines can then be chained to form a more complex routine known as a Motor Program or Executive Program.
How is a motor programme activated?
By just one command from the brain. This means that we have the ability to perform quite complex actions when there is little time to think.
What is a close loop control?
If there is time for feedback to be incorporated into an action. Adam’s close loop theory says that to learn a movement a motor programme consisting of two states of memory, memory trace and perceptual trace, experiences, is required
What is a open loop control?
There is a break, opening, in the loop. The action is completed too quickly for feedback to be incorporated.
