Field, laboratory, sub-maximal, and maximal test evaluation Flashcards
1
Q
Evaluation of field experiments
A
- More likely to reflect real life due to the natural setting
- Makes it hard to control extraneous variables which could influence results
- Not as accurate or reliable as laboratory
- Harder to replicate
2
Q
Evaluation of laboratory experiments
A
- Controls extraneous variables
- Replication is more possible
- May lack generalisability
- Low external validity
- Not everyone has access to be able to do laboratory experiments
3
Q
Evaluation of sub-maximal experiments
A
- Less accurate than maximal test
- Safer than maximal test
- Can be used to predict VO2 max
4
Q
Evaluation of maximal experiments
A
- Relatively time consuming
- High costs involved
- Requires a reasonable level of fitness and not recommended for recreational athletes or people with health problems/injuries
