schemas

- in sensation/perception, the process by which the eyes lens changes shape to focus near or far objects on the retina
- in developmental psychology, adapting our current understandings (schemas) to incorportate new information
sensorimotor stage

the principle that quantity (mass, volume, etc) remains the same despite changes in shape
