Module 3, Objective 5 Flashcards
Describe the expectations and desires of passengers, tenants and other stakeholders related to the operation of the terminal and landside areas
what are the four types of irregular operations
Surge, capacity, After-hours, and extended stay
What is a surge operation
a high level of aircraft and passengers flow into the airport
What is a capacity operation
the airport terminal hits its full passenger capacity and all gates become full with aircraft
what is an extended stay operation
when passengers and aircraft may be stuck at the airport for an extended period of time
what is an after-hours operation
when an aircraft lands with passengers that need to deplane at irregular hours
what is the airport operations center concept
The central nervous system of an airport. It is part of the airport emergency Management and attempts to put all of the operating elements into one room , so that incidents and day-to-day operations can be better coordinated
what are the functions of a dispatcher
Receives and processes emergency and non-emergency calls from the public requesting assistance, and transmits and coordinates the dispatching of appropriate service providers
what are the proven methods of improving the passenger experience
Physical: good layout and design of the airport itself, ease of use, everything
Subliminal: overall atmosphere and “feel” of the airport
Human: rough relates tot he interactions passengers have with airport, airline, and human tenant staff
Procedural: touch-points related tot eh processing encountered by the passenger including screening checkpoints, ticketing and baggage handling, or other airport services
Communication: touch-points relate to airport websites, brochures, and signage
what are the 3 classes of drone operations
Public: essentially aircraft operated by the US government or another entity authorized to operate on the governments behalf
Civil: are UAVs that do not qualify under the definition of Public, and may be used to perform commercial or other operations that are considered non-hobby or non-recreational in low-risk, controlled environments
Model Aircraft: operating a model aircraft. Drones weighing 55 lbs or less and used by a hobbyist as a “model aircraft”
what types of UAV operations require a remote pilot certificate
Model aircraft of drones of less than 55 lbs without a COA, provided the operator has a Remote Pilot Airmen Certificate
explain when a UAV operator must apply for COA
Public or civil UAVs that are over 55 lbs and are operated in civil airspace either by the federal government or a civil entity must be authorized through a COA issued by the FAA, which allows a certain entity to operate a specific UAV/UAS in a specific area for a specific purpose
