Mo - Background future directions in cancer therapy Flashcards
1
Q
Why is there hypoxia due to tumors? (explain)
A
Tumor cells grow fast, this leads to cell death because vascularization cannot keep up, and leads to hypoxia.
2
Q
How is the tumor microenvironment created?
A
Because when T cells reach the tumor, they are suppressed, which leads to Treg cells inhibiting other immune cells, and macrophages becoming immunosuppressive.
3
Q
How can tumor cells activate and recruit Treg cells?
A
By secretion of TGFB
4
Q
How does immune checkpoint blockade therapy used to get rid of the T cells?
A
By rescuing T cell function by releasing the brake
