Q

Describe the process of mitosis?

A
  1. In cell that’s not dividing, DNA is spread out in long strings
  2. If cell gets signal to divide, it needs to duplicate its DNA, so DNA is copied and forms x-shaped chromosomes
  3. Chromosomes line up at centre of cell and cell fibres pull them apart, two arms of each chromosome go to opposite ends
  4. Membranes form around each set and these become nuclei of two new cells
  5. Cytoplasm divides
  6. Two new cells containing the exact same DNA have been formed
