Cell Organisation Flashcards
What is differentiation?
Process by which cells become specialised for a particular job
What are large multicellular organisms made of?
Organ System
What is the order of an digestive system?
Epithelial cell, epithelial tissue, stomach, digestive system
What are tissues?
Group of similar cells that work together to carry out a particular function
What are the three types of tissues?
- Muscular tissue
- Glandular tissue
- Epithelial tissue
What does the muscular tissue do?
Contracts to move whatever it’s attached to
What does the glandular tissue do?
Makes and secretes chemicals like enzymes and hormones
What does the epithelial tissue do?
Covers parts of the body
What are organs?
Group of different tissue
What are the three different tissue that make up the stomach and what are the functions?
- Muscular tissue; moves stomach wall to churn food
- Glandular tissue; makes digestive juices to digest food
- Epithelial tissue; covers the outside and inside of the stomach
What are organ systems?
Group of organs working together
What organs make up the digestive system?
- Glands (pancreas and salivary gland)
- Stomach
- Small intestine
- Liver
- Large intestine
What do the glands do?
Produce digestive juices
What does the stomach do?
Digests food
What does the liver do?
Produces bile
