Q

How can you study the distribution of organisms?

A
  • Measure how common an organism is in two sample area using quadrats
  • How distribution changes across an area using quadrats and transects

Q

How do you use quadrats?

A
  • Place a 1m squared quadrat randomnly in the first sample area
  • Count all organisms in the quadrat
  • Repeat step 1 and 2 as many time as you want
  • Work out the mean number of organisms
  • Then repeat steps in a different location and then compare both data

Q

How do you work out the total population?

A

Q

How do you use transects?

A
  • Mark out line using a tape measure
  • Then place quadrants at regular intervals and count the organisms in the areas
  • And record the results
