Cells Flashcards
What parts does an animal cell have?
- Nucleus
- Cytoplasm
- Cell Membrane
- Mitochondria
- Ribosomes
What parts do plant cells have?
- Nucleus
- Cytoplasm
- Cell Membrane
- Mitochondria
- Ribosomes
- Vacuole
- Chloroplasts
- Cell Wall
What does the nucleus do?
Contains the genetic material and controls the activity of the cell
What does the cytoplasm do?
Gel like substance where most chemical reactions take place, contains enzymes that control these reactions
What does the cell membrane do?
Holds the cell together and controls what goes in and out
What does the mitochondria do?
The site of aerobic respiration to break down glucose to create energy
What do ribosomes do?
Where proteins are made in the cell
What does the cell wall do?
It’s made of cellulose to support and strengthen cell
What does the vacuole do?
Contains cell sap, and keeps the cell rigid for support
What do chloroplasts do?
Where photosynthesis occurs, which is the process to make food and it contains green substances called chlorophyll
What is yeast?
A single called micro organism
What parts does a yeast cell have?
- Nucleus
- Cytoplasm
- Cell Membrane
- Cell Wall
What is bacteria?
Single celled micro organism
What parts does a bacterial cell have?
- Cytoplasm
- Cell Membrane
- Cell Wall
- NO NUCLEUS
What happens to the genetic material in a bacterial cell?
Genetic material floats in the cytoplasm
