Microsopes Flashcards
What are the advantages of a light microscope? 3
Inexpensive, smaller, can use living organisms.
Disadvantage of light microscopes? 3
The specimen has to be thin, lower resolution, can’t see internal structures.
Advantages of electron microscopes? 2
Higher resolution/ magnification
Disadvantage of electron microscopes? 3
Expensive, not portable, can only use dead specimens.
Define resolution
The ability to distinguish between to separate points
How does the electron microscopes have a higher resolution?
Electrons are fired through the spectate points to a screen and electrons are smaller then light waves so it shows a detailed image.
Define magnification
How bigger a microscope causes an object to appear.
What can u use laser scanning for?
Human tissue, thicker sample.
What are the two electron microscopes?
TEM and SEM
Which one of SEM And TEM has a higher resolution? And up to what amount?
TEM. X2miliion magnification
What the eq to use when calibrating the microscope
