uncommon malignant tumour of the pleura

what is the cause?
A
occupational exposure to asbestos

symptoms?
A
chest pain, shortness of breath, fatigue, a high temperature, a persistent cough, loss of appetite and weight loss, weaknesss, haemoptysis, recurrent or slow resolving pneumoni

signs?
A
anaemia, clubbing, HPOA, cachexia, dull perussion, hypercalcaemia, hymphadenopathy and hoarse voice

Investigations?
A
CT/CXR
GOLD STANDARD DIAGNOSIS- thoracoscopic biopsy

what would show u on the CXR/CT if mesothelia was present?
A
pleural thickening/ effusion, bloody pleural fluid

Q
what is the treatment for?
A
pemetrexed + cisplatin chemotherapy
