tay sachs s/s
red spots in eyes, blind, deaf, unable to swallow, if you get it when you’re in 20-30’s you’ll have an unsteady gait, progressive neuro deterioration
What is the chance that a baby will have tay sachs and how can you test for it?
Both Parents have to be carriers and you can get a blood test to see if baby will have tay sachs
Fragile X Chromosome s/s
long face, flat nasal bridge, big ears/forehead, increased creases on feet/pals, big jaw
Why is it called fragile x chromosome?
because there is a fragile site or gap at the end of the long arm of the x chromosome. The pt lacks normal brain development
