What is the wind limitation for use of passenger and cargo doors?
The maximum wind for passenger door operation is 65 kt.
The maximum wind for FWD and AFT cargo door operation is 40 kt (or 50 kt, if the aircraft nose is into the wind, or if the FWD and AFT cargo doors are on the leeward side).
The FWD and AFT cargo doors must be closed before the wind speed exceeds 65 kt.
FCOM LIMITATIONS
What are the speed limits and maximum tiller deflection for –
1 deflated tire
2 deflated tires
Damaged tires
1 tyre (one or more gears), 7kts in turn 2 tyres on one gear, 3 kts in turn, maximum 30 degrees
If tyres are damaged then an inspection must be carried out.
Limitations - L/G
What is the maximum brake temperature for take off?
300 degrees (brake fans off) Limitations L/G
During taxi out, if an arc indication appears above the brake temperature on the ECAM WHEEL page set the brake fans on.
The maximum certified brake temperature prior to take-off is 300°C. In circumstances when brake temperatures approach this limitation, the recommended procedure is to use brake fans to reduce the temperature to 150°C.
OMB
Where would you find the minimum flight crew oxygen requirement?
FCOM Limitations oxygen
Starter cycle limitations for the APU?
APU STARTER
After 3 starter motor duty cycles, wait 60 min before attempting 3 more cycles.
Starter cycle limitations for the Engines?
4 consecutive cycles: Each lasts a maximum of 2 min
Pause between start attempts: 20 s
Cooling period, after 4 start attempts: 15 min
No running engagement of the starter, when N2 is above 20 %.
What is IRS drift? Where do you find the tolerences?
When do you do a quick align/full alignment of the IRS’s? When do you consider the IRS to unserviceable?
After the flight, the flight crew must check the IRS performance once parked. To check IRS performance, the flight crew compares the IRS position with the FMGC position in Nautical Miles.
The NAV TIME is the cumulated block time since the latest IRS alignment (fast or complete).
On the MCDU POSITION MONITOR page, read the deviation of each IRS position from the FMGC position and check that the value does not exceed values in the table in OMB.
Full alignment at beginning of day. Quick alignment if drift greater than values in table and on a crew handover.
Is it a requirement to check the flight deck oxygen on every turnaround?
Oxygen Mask Test – First Flight of the Day Only
Which components can pressurise the GREEN System?
EDP1 & PTU
Which Components can pressurise the BLUE System?
Blue Electric Pump & RAT
Which components can pressurise the YELLOW System?
EDP2 PTU & Yellow Electric Pump
Which components can the Hand Pump pressurise?
Cargo Door actuators only.
When will the PTU Operate?
When the difference between the GREEN & YELLOW systems exceeds 500 psi.
When is the PTU inhibited?
- Aircraft is on GROUND, and
- Either: Park Brake is set,
- or NWS is in the towing position, and
- One Eng Master SW is ON, the other OFF.
- Also, it will not run within 40 secs of Cargo Door operation.
Does the RAT deploy automatically for any Hydraulic System Failures?
No
What do the priority valves do?
Cut off hydraulic power to heavy users. This preserves hydraulic power for flight controls.
Hydraulic Reservoirs are pressurised. Why?
This prevents cavitation at the pumps. Particularly at altitude.
When does the BLUE electric pump usually operate?
After First Engine Start or In flight with AC power available.
When does the YELLOW Electric Pump normally operate?
- Switch in NORMAL Position - For Cargo Door Operation only.
* Switch in ON Position - It runs if AC Power is available.
What 4 faults cause EDP1 or EDP2 FAULT lights to illuminate?
- Reservoir Low Level
- Reservoir Overheat
- Reservoir Low Air Pressure
- Low Pump Output Pressure
If a FAULT light illuminates in a Pump or the PTU pb, the PUMP/PTU is switched off. What is the difference in sysytem response for an OVERHEAT (fluid or pump)?
The FAULT light remains illuminated until the system cools when it will extinguish. For other faults the FAULT light(s) extinguish when the pb is switched OFF.
Before Engine Start, which hydraulic systems can be pressurised?
ALL OF THEM
* Switch the YELLOW Elec Pump ON, this will pressurise the YELLOW system and GREEN via the PTU.
- Select the BLUE override pb ON, this will pressurise the BLUE system.
At what pressure is a ‘Low Pressure’ ECAM caution/Warning triggered?
1,450 psi
Is the loss of EDP1 the same as the loss of GREEN hydraulics?
- NO
- The PTU will maintain GREEN pressure if EDP1 fails.
On Take-off a Double Hydraulic Failure occurs at 90 knots. Will this generate an ECAM warning?
No This warning is inhibitted from 80 knots to 1,500 feet.
Which Busbar powers the BLUE electric pump?
AC1
Which Busbar powers the YELLOW electric pump?
AC2 or External power (Yellow Pump is on the Ground/Flight Bus.)
Aircraft is shut down, battery switches OFF. Can the RAT be manually deployed?
YES Control comes from the HOT BATT Busbars
What is the normal range of hydraulic pressure?
3,000 psi +/- 200
Following the loss of GREEN, YELLOW or BLUE due to RSVR OVERHEAT, LO AIR PR or LO LEVEL, may the the system be restored for the approach?
LO AIR PR: System Pump/PTU as appropriate may be re-activated. RSVR OVERHEAT: May be restored if overheat has cooled (FAULT light out) LO LEVEL: System is not to be used.
The BLUE Pump has failed. Are we required to deploy the RAT?
No
The BLUE pump has failed & now the GREEN (or YELLOW) System also fails. Are we required to deploy the RAT?
YES
Which DUAL hydraulic Failure will NOT put the aircraft into Alternate Law?
BLUE & YELLOW
- What is the normal range of the cabin differential pressure? 2. When does it turn Amber?3. When do the safety vents open?
- Between -0.4psi and 8.5psi non-inclusive 2. Greater than or equal to 8.5psi and lower than or equal to -0.4psi3. 8.6psi if too high, -1psi if too low
What LMC changes would require a new load sheet?
10 or more extra passengers20 less passengers
What is the stable approach criteria?
In the landing configurationVapp +10/-5RoD
What is the FO crosswind limit?
20kts including the gust
What is the total crosswind limit when the runway is reported as ‘slippery when wet’?
25kts15kts when braking action reported as poor.
