Q

What is the acetabulum?

A

There are three bones of the hip bone that come together to form the acetabulum. Contributing a little more than two-fifths of the structure is the ischium, which provides lower and side boundaries to the acetabulum. The ilium forms the upper boundary, providing a little less than two-fifths of the structure of the acetabulum. The rest is formed by the pubis, near the midline.

Q

the medial part of the lower ishail tuberosity faces inferiorly and is covered by connective tissue and a ____

A

the medial part of the lower ishail tuberosity faces inferiorly and is covered by connective tissue and a bursae

18
Q

Gluteus medius and minimus both insert on the

A

greater trochanter of the femur

19
Q

The linea aspera is a major sit of muscle attachment in the thigh, superior to it is which tuberosity (posterior) which is where the glut max. inserts?

A

Gluteal tuberosity

20
Q

The iliofemoral ligament is _____ to the hip joint

A

anterior

21
Q

The piriformis (lateral rotator) muscle passes out of the pelvis into the gluteal region through the…

In this space, what goes above piriformis and what goes below?

A

The piriformis (lateral rotator) muscle passes out of the pelvis into the gluteal region through the greater sciatic foreamen

Above it:

  • superior gluteal nerve and vessels

Below:

  • inf. gluteal a.
  • in.f gluteal n.
  • pudendal n.
  • inf. pudendal vessels
  • post. cut. n. of thigh
  • nerve to the quadratus femoris
  • nerve to the gemellus inferior.
22
Q

What goes through the obturator canal?

A

obturator nerve

obturator artery/vein

23
Q

The obturator and femoral nerve originate from which spinal segment?>

A

L2 to L4

24
Q

The illiotibial tract and it’s two associated msucles (glut max. and tensor fascia latae) prevent lateral displacement of what?

A

hip joint

prevent proximal end of the femur from moving away from the acetabulum

25
Q

The Gluteus _____holds the pelvis horizontal in locomotion

A

The Gluteus minimus holds the pelvis horizontal in locomotion

26
Q

Tensor fascia latae stabilised the knee in _____

A

Tensor fascia latae stabilised the knee in extension
