Lecture 6.2 Flashcards
Extensors are positions ________ in lower limb
anteriorly
The gluteal region is ________
posterolateral
Gluteal region: from ____ crest to the ______fold below
Gluteal region: from illiac crest to the gluteal fold below
Thigh is from the ______ ligament to the knee joint anteriorly or
from the ______ fold to knee posteriorly
Thigh is from the inguinal ligament to the knee joint anteriorly or
from the gluteal fold to knee posteriorly
Illium - superiorly
Ishium - _____
Pubis - ______

Illium - superiorly
Ishium - Posterior
Pubis - anterior
What is the acetabulum?
There are three bones of the hip bone that come together to form the acetabulum. Contributing a little more than two-fifths of the structure is the ischium, which provides lower and side boundaries to the acetabulum. The ilium forms the upper boundary, providing a little less than two-fifths of the structure of the acetabulum. The rest is formed by the pubis, near the midline.

Idetify ASIS and AIIS

The femoral neck forms and angle of ___ degrees with the femoral shaft
125 degrees
The lesser trochanter is located…
posteromedially
The muscles in the thigh and leg are seperated into compartments by…
bone, fascia and interosseous membrane
deep fascia of the thigh is called
fascia lata
The illiotibial tract help maintain ________
extension
Glut.max is the ___ and lateral _______ f the hip joint
Like the posterior fibres of Deltoid
Glut.max is the extendorand lateral rotator of the hip joint
The rectus femoris attaches to the ….

AIIS
and to a roughened patch of bone between the superior margin of the acetabulum and the inferior gluteal line
The ishial tuberosity is associated with the ___ muscles
hamstring
The lateral region of the lower are of the ishail tuberosity provides attachemnt for part of which adductor?
adductor magnus
the medial part of the lower ishail tuberosity faces inferiorly and is covered by connective tissue and a ____
the medial part of the lower ishail tuberosity faces inferiorly and is covered by connective tissue and a bursae
Gluteus medius and minimus both insert on the
greater trochanter of the femur
The linea aspera is a major sit of muscle attachment in the thigh, superior to it is which tuberosity (posterior) which is where the glut max. inserts?
Gluteal tuberosity
The iliofemoral ligament is _____ to the hip joint
anterior
The piriformis (lateral rotator) muscle passes out of the pelvis into the gluteal region through the…
In this space, what goes above piriformis and what goes below?
The piriformis (lateral rotator) muscle passes out of the pelvis into the gluteal region through the greater sciatic foreamen
Above it:
- superior gluteal nerve and vessels
Below:
- inf. gluteal a.
- in.f gluteal n.
- pudendal n.
- inf. pudendal vessels
- post. cut. n. of thigh
- nerve to the quadratus femoris
- nerve to the gemellus inferior.
What goes through the obturator canal?
obturator nerve
obturator artery/vein
The obturator and femoral nerve originate from which spinal segment?>
L2 to L4
The illiotibial tract and it’s two associated msucles (glut max. and tensor fascia latae) prevent lateral displacement of what?
hip joint
prevent proximal end of the femur from moving away from the acetabulum
The Gluteus _____holds the pelvis horizontal in locomotion
The Gluteus minimus holds the pelvis horizontal in locomotion
Tensor fascia latae stabilised the knee in _____
Tensor fascia latae stabilised the knee in extension
