Q

Why does Saban produce IgA while Salk does not?

A

Saban infects the gut epithelium, sparking the production of sIgA’s!!

Q

What about the Saban makes it very beneficial for developing countries?

A

Q

Does the poliovirus need to code for a nucleotide polymerase? Does it need to bring one with it?

A

1.Yes-it does need to code for an RNA polymerase to make more RNA from RNA. 2.No-it does not need to bring its own. The host cell will read the (+) ssRNA just like it was mRNA.

Q

What was the year for the global eradication goal by W.H.O.?

A

2000 (not met yet)

17
Q

Why does the US use only Salk?

A

Less of a risk then the infectious Saban. AND we have cleaner living conditions then the Saban recommended locations.

18
Q

What is the structure of IgA?

A

Its a Dimer

19
Q

What is IgA’s main job?

A

To PREVENT infection (not get rid of it!)

20
Q

What does IgA bind to on a bacterium? on a virus?

A

Bacterium=Fimbriae, Virus=Spike
