Lecture 1: Anatomy Review Flashcards
What are the 4 anatomical planes?
Median (midline)
Sagittal (parallel to median)
Frontal (divides into front and back)
Transverse (divides into upper and lower)
What is valgus?
body segment is turned outwards from its proximal to its distal end (knocked knees)
What is varus?
body segment is turned inwards from its proximal to its distal ends (bowed legs)
What is hyperlordosis?
Excessive curvature of the spine in the lumbar region (super arched lower back)
What is kyphosis?
dorsally excessive thoracic curvature of the spine (hunchback)
Is bending of a joint:
- circumduction
- flexion
- extension
- rotation
flexion
What is movement of a body segment away from the midline?
Abduction
What is rotation?
Movment around axis itself
What is circumduction?
Combination of add/abduction and flextion/extension
What is dorsiflexion?
flexed foot
What is plantarflexion?
pointed foot (relevé)
Explain inversion of the foot:
bottom of feet face each other
Explain eversion of the foot:
bottom of fett face away from each other
Explain supination of the foot:
inversion, plantarflexion, adduction
Explain pronation of the foot:
eversion, dorsiflexion, abduction
