Can maintain effort and motivation by inspiring team /setting target.

Emergent and prescribed
What is an emergent leader ?
A leader appointed from in the group
What is a prescribed leader?
A leader appointed outside of the group

What are the different styles of leadership?
- autocratic
- democratic
- laissez-faire
What is an autocratic leader?
- makes all decisions
- task orientated
- concerned w/ results
- dictates instructions
- either positive (most favourable) or negative (least favourable)
What is democratic leadership?
- concerned with individual success & wellbeing
- input from others before making decisions
- person orientated
- moderately favourable
What is laissez - faire leadership?
- little input
- low motivated performers stop working

What are the characteristics that affect a leader in chelladuri’s model?
- situation (type of skill, danger, time available)
- leader (leader characteristics, experience, preference)

- preferred behaviour (what the group wants)
- actual behaviour (what leader decides to do —> leadership style)
