What is attribution?
A perception of the reason for an outcome of an event or performance
What are the 2 parts to Weiner’s model?
- The locus of causality
- The stability dimension
What is the locus of causality?
part of Weiner’s model, deciding whether the outcome of the performance was in the performer’s control (internal) or out of their control(external)
What is the stability dimension?
part of Weiner’s model thatdecides whether the reason for outcome is permanent or changeable

What is self serving bias?
Using external and/or unstable reasons for losing
Why do people use self serving bias?
To maintain motivation and promotes
What is attribution retraining?
What we use to attribute everything to be external and unstable
What is learned helplessness?
Using internal stable reasons for losing
What are the two types of learned helplessness
Global / general learned helplessness
Specific / situational learned helplessness
What is global / general learned helplessness
General sporting situations E.g. not good at racket sports
What is specific / situational learned helplessness
Specific sporting situations E.g. not good at serving to win
