Q

*** What is the formula to figure out TV when spirometer that is not sensitve enough to take a direct TV reading?

How is this performed ***

A
  • (TV+ERV)-ERV=TV
  • Step 1: Take a quiet breath inhale, and at the peak of inhale, perform a forced exhale. Take reading for TV+ERV
  • Step 2: Take a quiet breath inhale and at the end of a quiet breathing exhale, perform a forced exhale. Take reading for ERV.
  • Subtract reading 2 from reading 1 for TV
