Pilonidal Disease (PD)
- The more modern nomenclature of“pilonidal disease” (PD) isused to describe the spectrum of disorders that may be encountered “pilonidal cyst, sinus, and abscess”.

The main etiology is unclear Acquired condition.
RF for Pilonidal Disease
- Family history of disease
- Obesity (BMI >25)
- Poor hygiene
- Hirsutism
- Deep natal cleft anatomy
- Occupation with prolonged sitting (“Jeep disease’)
- Excessive sweating
Sites of Pilonidal Disease
A. The most common site of occurrence is sacrococcygeal region
B. Rarer sites include: Interdigital cleft -Breast -Umbilicus
