L13B: Measures of Transfer Flashcards

1
Q

What is the point of
Measuring Transfer?

A

Was there positive or negative transfer from task A>B

  • Transfer assessment typically involves Task “A”
to Task “B” designs (with control groups)
  • Did previous practice at Task A (or X,Y,Z…)
transfer to performance at Task B?

Q

What is zero-sum training?

A

The double whammy of lack of transfer or negative transfer, when compared to other groups/methods

  1. Not as effective as other methods (or harmful)
  2. Wastes time, which could be spent on better methods

Zero-sum training: “every minute in ineffective method, equal to minute that could have been spent in more effective method.” (see webstudy narrative)
