Leopold Maneuvers: ABD palpation for? (6)
Assessment/Pre-procedure
1) Number of fetuses
2) Fetal presenting part
3) Fetal lie
4) Attitude
5) Descent
6) Probable location of best fetal tones on mothers abd
Contraction Patterns: What is used? (3)
Assessment/Pre-procedure
1) External electronic monitoring (tocotransducer) used for FHB (External Fetal Monitoring EFM)
2) Separate transducer applied to abd over the fundus that measures uterine activity
3) Must be repositioned with maternal movements to ensure proper placement
Vaginal Exam: To evaluate? (2)
Assessment/Pre-procedure
1) Effacement
2) Dilalation
3) Membranes?
Membranes: To evaluate?
Assessment/Pre-procedure
?
Vital Signs:
Assessment/Intraprocedure
1) Temp q 1-2 hrs if membranes are ruptured
2) FHR via EFM or spiral electrode applied to the fetal scalp. CERVICAL DILATION AND RUPTURE OF MEMBRANES MUST OCCUR BEFORE electrode placement
Group B Streptococccus
1) Culture obtained if not screened at week 36 to 37
2) If positive IV prophylactic antibiotic prescribed (EXCEPTIONS: planned C section and intact membranes)
Urinalysis: Why (4)
1) Hydration status via specific gravity
2) Nutrition status via ketones
3) Proteinuria
4) UTI (Bacteria)
Urinalysis:
1) Are ketones usually found in urine?
2) If ketones are present what does it indicate?
1) NO
