Knee Clinical Tests Flashcards
Mcmurray’s is useful for diagnosing anterior or posterior meniscal tears?
Posterior
With mcmurray’s what maneuver do you to test medial meniscus?
Externally rotate tibia with valgus stress to knee
With mcmurray’s, what maneuver do you do to test the lateral meniscus?
Internally rotate tibia with varus stress to knee
What does apley’s grind test for? What does apley’s distraction test for?
Grind = meniscus Distraction = MCL or LCL
Performing anterior drawer in neutral position vs tibia rotated
When tibia is rotated, there should be less anterior translation of the tibia because the joint capsule tightens. So if anterior translation at neutral is same as anterior translation with rotation, there may be ACL damage
What does the pivot shift test test for?
ACL injuries
How do you do pivot shift test?
Internally rotate and apply valgus stress with axial load with knee extended that gently flex the knee
What is considered a positive test for the pivot shift test
Anterolateral subluxation of the lateral tibial plateau
