Dislocation Of Elbow, Biceps, Triceps, VEO Flashcards
What is VEO syndrome
Valgus extension overload of the elbow caused by repetitive valgus forces causing olecranon osteophytes and loose body formation
What patients are susceptible to developing VEO syndrome
Pitchers
Mechanism of injury that causes distal biceps tendonitis
Repetitive supination and elbow flexion
Provocative test for VEO syndrome
Flex elbow to 30º and extend while applying valgus stress. + Test = pain at 5-10º extension
What artery and what nerve is susceptible to injury in an elbow dislocation
Brachial artery
Median nerve
Most common type of elbow dislocation
Posterior elbow dislocations
What bone is susceptible to fracture in elbow dislocation
Radial head
Mechanism of injury that causes triceps tendonitis
Repetitive elbow extension
Most common type of dislocation in children
Elbow dislocation
Treatment of elbow dislocation
Reduce ASAP
Splint
ROM
NSAIDs
Treatment of VEO syndrome
Surgery to remove loose bodies
