Q
If there is a short term change in BP (no change in volume) what system is responsible for responding to correct this?
A
Autonomic NS

Q
If there is a long term change in BP due to a change in volume, what system is responsible for correcting this?

Q
What is released by MD cells during tubuloglomerular feedback to either dilate or constrict the afferent arteriole?
A
- When GFR is low, lots of solute is reabsorbed. MD senses low solute, triggers secretion of renin to increase volume. Also triggers secretion of NO to vause vasodilation to increase GFR.
- When GFR is high, little solute is reabsorbed. MD senses high solute, decreases renin secretion and increases secretion of ATP and adenosine to cause vasoconstriction of afferent arteriole and decrease GFR.
