4 ways to prevent injury?
- Checking equipment and facilities before play
- Correct application of the principles of training (SPORRIN and FITT)
- Use of appropriate protective clothing/equipment
- Correct application of rules of the activity

Allow recovery time?
To prevent overuse injuries by allowing time to rest and recover
RICE
- rest - don’t use injured areas
- Ice - coldness will reduce swelling by constricting blood vessels
- Compress - put bandage to reduce swelling and provide support
- Elevated - Keep the affected area raise to reduce swelling by reducing blood flow

- Compound

- Greenstick

What is a compound fracture?
when the bone breaks and causes skin to break
What is a simple fracture?
when is broken but doesn’t break skin
What is a greenstick fracture?
bone breaks at one side and bends the other
What is a stress fracture?
small crack in bone usually caused by overuse

- pain
- bruising
- swelling
- misshapen limb

What is a sprain?
Is soft tissue injury where some fibers of ligaments are torn
What is a strain?
are soft tissue injury and is stretched or tear to muscles
What is a tennis/golfers elbow?
joint injury where the tendons are inflamed
Tennis = pain felt on outside of the elbow
golf = pain felt on the inside of elbow
What is a torn cartilage?
where small tears appear in cartilage
What is a abrasions?
minor injuries to the skin and include cuts and grazes
What is a concussion?
mild head injury
What is a dislocation?
where one of the bones at a joint comes out of place
