What is the insertion of the trapezius?
Lateral 1/3 of the clavicle, acromion, and spin of the scapula
What is the innervation of the trapezius?
Spinal part of CN XI and C3/C4
What action does the trapezius carry out?
Shrugs the shoulders, retracts and rotates the scapula
Where does the latissimus dorsi originate?
Thoracolumbar fascia, spinous process of the lower thoracic and lumbar vertebrae
Where does the latissimus dorsi insert into?
Floor of the bicipital groove
What innervates the latissimus dorsi?
Thoracodorsal nerve (C6-8)
What actions does the latissimus dorsi carry out?
Adducts, extends, and medially rotates the arm
What is the origin of the levator scapulae?
Transverse processes of C1/C2, Posterior tubercles of C3/C4
What is the insertion of the levator scapulae?
Superior angle of the scapula to the rood of the spine of the scapula
What is the innervation of the levator scapulae?
Dorsal Scapular Never C5
What is the action of the levator scapulae?
Elevate the scapula

Anterior tubercles of the transverse processes of C3-6
What is the insertion of the scalenus anterior?
Scalene tubercle of the first rib

Ipsilateral flexion of the neck

Lateral aspect of the upper 8 ribs

The medial aspect of the inferior surface of the scapula

Long Thoracic Nerve C5-7
What is the action of the serratus anterior?
Draws the scapula forward and rotates it

Lateral 1/3 of the clavicle, acromion and spine of scapula

Deltoid tubercle of the humerus
What is the innervation of the deltoid?
Axillary nerve C5, C6
What is the action of the deltoid?
Adducts the arm (15-90 degrees), Anterior fibers flex and medially rotate the arm, Posterior fibers extend and laterally rotate the arm

Sternum, Upper 6 costal cartilages, and medial half of the clavicle
What is the insertion of pectoralis major?
Lateral lip of the bicipital groove
What is the innervation of pectoralis major?
Medial (C8-T1) and Lateral (C5-C7) pectoral nerves

Adducts, flex, and medially rotates the arm; if the arm is flexed, it extends

Supraspinous fossa of the scapula

inferomedial aspect of the medial cuneiform and base of 1st metatarsal bone

Deep peroneal nerve (L4, L5)

Dorsiflexes and inverts the foot

Middle half of anterior aspect of fibula, interosseus membrane

Plantar flexing the ankle

Soleal line, middle 1/3 of the tibia, and upper third of the fibula

Plantar flexion and aiding venous return
