Q
describe the principles of effective goal setting
A
- Specific: goal must be clear and target weakness e.g. reach level 10.5 in multistage fitness test
- Measureable: goal must be quantifiable to track progress e.g. make 10 tackles in the next half
- Achieveable: performer should be able to reach their goal (increases motivation and self-satisfaction) e.g. aim to jumo 1.25 m as they can already jump 1.2m
- Recorded: goals have been agreed on and recorded so progress can be monitored. as they are achieved they are crossed off so motivates performer to keep moving towards next goal e.g. keep record of height jumped in high jump
- Timed: set a period of time for goal to be completed in to allow progression to be monitored and evaluated e.g. perform a PB in 100m freestyle by end of next month
