What are interferons used for?
Multiple sclerosis, inhibits tumors, stimulates T cells, prevent viruses
Interferons can stimulate a system called hematopoietic system, what is it used for?
Used for cancer tx and chronic renal failure
What is Colony-Stimulating Factors (CSF): neutrophils, used for?
Boost immune system.
Prevent infection associated with:
1. Neutropenia
2. Production of STEM cells for harvest
3. Neutropenia for symptomatic chronic failure
Pt with what disease can you not give CSF-neutrophil to?
Sickle cell disease b/c can lead to sickle cell crisis
What does CSF-neutrophil interact with?
Lithium
Pegfilgrastim and filgrastim (Neupogen) drug class
CSF-neutrophil
What do CSF-platelet dev do?
Low plt, low rbc.
Increase production of megakaryocytes (produce platelets in red bone marrow)
What should you do prior to giving CSF-plt dev meds?
Liver study b/c some are toxic to the liver
Drug class of eltrobopag, romiplostum, and avatrombopag

What are CSF-RBC dev meds used for?
Anemia.
HIV therapy, chemo, surgical blood replacement

Eggs, poultry, fish, green leafy veggies, meat
What is Leucovorin used for?
Rescue RBC
What does leucovorin interact with?
Antiseizure meds
Can you take iron with or without food?
Without
What drugs can you not take with iron?
Tetracyclines, antacids, b/c may cause black stool, diarrhea, constipation
