I’d resistant to anti TB drugs, which 2 meds are being used? And what is the risk for this?
Pretomanid and bedaquiline, increase cardiac death risk, pt needs to be on tele for this

Optic neuritis, decreased visual acuity, change in color and perception

Liver
What are some side effects for the liver if pt is taking isoniazid?
Jaundice, severe hepatitis
What do isoniazid interact with?
Antacids, anticoagulants, alcohol, phenytoin (anti-seizure)
Pyrazinamide is very hard on which organ and can cause what?
Liver, can cause jaundice and hepatotoxicity
Can you use pyrazinamide if you have HIV?
No
Can you use pyrazinamide if you have diabetes?
No
What do pyrazinamide interact with?
Gout meds, effectiveness of gout meds decrease, so don’t use them together
Rifampin turns body fluid which color?
Orange
What does rifampin interact with?
Anticoagulants, antiretrovirals, digoxin, oral contraceptives, isoniazid (increase risk of hepatotoxicity)
Should rifampin and isoniazid be used together?
No because it increases the risk of hepatotoxocity
