Amish - PA mennonites - PA and OH Hutterites - NW USA Mormons - Utah all have little to no interactions with pop culture and not a lot of people leaving or joining
what is material culture
things that are built like clothing, food, architectural styles
what is non-material culture
beliefs (religious, spiritual), practices, aesthetics, and values
what is assimilation
when a person or group acquires the cultural traits of another group; can be forced or can happen naturally over time
what is acculturation
the borrowing or adopting of things from another group; get some of it, but maintain original culture as well
what is cultural adaptation
the process and time it takes a person to integrate into a new culture and feel comfortable within it
what is the cultural core-periphery pattern
idea that the core houses main economic power of region and the outlying region or periphery houses lesser economic ties
