hip arthroplasty Flashcards
compare cemented and cementless
cemented
- early post op WB
- shorter rehab
- aseptic loosening
- less active and older
cementless
- porous allows bone growth
- 3-6 mo for in growth
- less chance of loosening
- for younger and active
WB considerations
cemented - WBAT
cementless and hybrid - restricted WB for 6-8 wks
trochanteric osteotomy - restrictred WB 6-8 or 12-16 wks
discuss posterolateral approach
most common
preserves gluteal muscles but high chance of aseptic loosening
discuss lateral approach
incision through gmeds and vastus lateralis
weak muscles - limitied knee ext, hip abd and pelvic drop on contra
trendelenburg or waddling
discuss anterolateral approach
least common - requires trochanteric osteotomy; most soft tissue damage
for stroke or CP pts since malikot sila so aseptic loosening will be prevented when they sit
