Exam and stimulation of body points via acupuncture needles or injections for dx and/or tx
What is chiropractic?
Exam, dx and tx through manipulation and adjustment
What is homeopathy?
Tx by giving substances that are capable of producing clinical signs in healthy animals
What is western herbal medicine?
Individuals have an inner force that works to maintain physical, emotional and mental health
What is Chinese Traditional Herbal Medicine?
Emphasizes relationship among the mental, emotional and physical components of each individual, stresses importance of harmony in groups and individuals. Formulas involve the use of multiple herbs in one remedy.
What is yin and yang?
Yin is cold, moisture, inward movement, quiet, slow. Yang is heat, dryness, brightness, outward movement, forceful and fast.
What is Ginkgo for?
Reduces aging effects of nervous system, reduces hypertension and as a general tonic
What is St. John’s Wort for?
Tx behavior disorders like lick granulomas, aggression, separation anxiety and OCD. Can cause light sensitivity.
What is Ginseng for?
Tx weight loss, anorexia, systemic infections, feline leukemia
What is Garlic for?
Treat parasitic/fungal infections and respiratory problems, acidify urine, has not been proven effective as flea prevention
What is Echinacea for?
Stimulates phagocytes and NK cell activity. Shortens severity and duration of infections.
What is Evening Primrose for?
Maintain healthy skin, normal growth in young, and lactation
What is cranberry used for?`
Tx urinary tract infections. Prolonged use can cause kidney stones.
