Assess the reasons why Henry VIII wanted to go to war in the years 1509-13
Henry’s desire for war in France was a deeply personal longing to experience the glory and honour of winning the French throne. Ultimately - his desire to emulate Henry V was the most important factor
- -> lack of dynastic threats second most –> crafted climate in which he could fulfil dream
- -> lastly his contrast to his father – determined to gain validation from people and not be seen a boring but without the stable climate inherited and the deeply rooted desire that underpinned both factors Henry would not have been
