Inferential statistics
Used to reach conclusions that extend beyond immediate data alone
Descriptive statistics
Describes what is or what data shows (summary of sample and measures) teen birth rate
Birth rate
Number of live births per 1,000 ppl
Infant mortality rate
Death before 1st birthday per 1,000 live births
Very premature
Less than 32 weeks
Moderately premature
32-34 weeks
Late premature
34-36 weeks
Early term
36-38 weeks
Neonate mortality rate
Death in infants less than 28 days old
Maternal death
Death of a woman during pregnancy of within 42 days of termination of pregnancy
Direct obstetric death
Death resulting from complications during pregnancy, labor/birth, and/or postpartum, and from interventions, omission of interventions, or incorrect treatment
Maternal mortality rate
Death of mom. Rate less with prenatal care. 3.6 per 100,000

Fat pad covering on the pubic bone which segments to create labia majora
Skene’s glands
Located on anterior wall of vagina around lower end of urethra
Hymen
Piece of tissue that lines vaginal opening
Bartolin’s glands
2 pea sized glands located on either side of vaginal orifice
Fourchette
Area of tissue where the labias fuse (base of inner lips)
Ovaries
Produce ova and secrete estrogen
Fallopian tubes
Junctora or uterotubal junction
Isthmus f tube
Narrowest part of f tube
Ampulla
Longest and largest part mosey extensive, provides place for fertilization to take place
Infundibulum (pre ampulla)
Part of f tube that connects with ovary; egg enters this part and transferred by ciliated cells to ampulla for fertilization
Corpus
Body of the uterus; hollow organ where a fertilized egg becomes embedded
Isthmus
Elongated narrow part of uterus at junction of body if uterus and cervix
Anteverted
Uterus is normally tipped forward ( bends toward bladder)
Anteflexed
Uterus is flexed toward abdomen
Parietal peritoneum- perimeteium
Uterine wall layer. Consist of outer serosal layer which covers body of uterus, part of cervix
Myometriym
Layer of uterine wall. Thick middle muscular layer, largely smooth muscle
Endometrium
Uterine wall layer. Inner mucosal layer
Superficial endometrium
Contains glands and occupies 2/3 of endometrium
Basal endometrium
Doesn’t change character during menstruation
Parenchyma
Cells that make up milk ducts
Stroma
Supporting cells and connective tissue
