cervical cancer smear screening timing:
if above 50, every 5 years is routine
if 25-49: every 3 years is routine
if after twice rechecking every 12 months, cytology is negative= then can put back into routine recall. if after twice, still positive (hrHPV): refer for colposcopy.
Most common cause of post-menopausal bleeding?
- most COMMON: is vaginal atrophy
- most dangerous: is endometrial cancer: so need to be careful about that.
Cervical cancer screening: if smear inadequate then repeat in?
3 months
- repeat the sample in 3 months, if still inadequate: then colposcopy
Medical management of an incomplete miscarriage involves?
Just giving vaginal misoprostol alone.
Medical management of a missed miscarriage involves:
Giving oral mifepristone (good if there is no cardiac activity) + 48 hours later, misoprostol (vaginal, oral or sublingual) unless the gestational sac has already been passed
Medical management of ectopic pregnancy?
Methotrexate is the drug of choice.
