Granulocyte Antigens Flashcards
HNA-1a/1b/1c/1d location
FcÿRIIIb (CD16b)
HNA-2 location
CD177
antibodies to HNA-2
Made by people missing the whole CD177 protein (1-11%)
Implicated in NAN, TRALI, AIN, and neutropenia in marrow transplant recipients
Location of HNA-3a/3b
CTL2 (choline transporter like protein 2)
Antibodies to HNA-3a
Most frequent cause of fatal TRALI
Also cause febrile reactions and NAN
HNA-4a/4b location
CD11b/18 (plays a role in neutrophil adhesion to endothelial cells and phagocytosis of C3bi opsonized microbes)
Location of HNA-5a
CD11a/18
Neutrophil expression of ABO and HLA
Do NOT express ABO antigens
Express HLA in modest amounts only upon activation (Class I and II)
Antibodies most frequently associated with NAN
HNA-1a, HNA-1b, HNA-2
Antibodies most often associated with AIN
HNA-1a (occasionally -1b or -4a)
Granulocyte antigen/antibody testing considerations
Granulocytes for testing must be isolated from fresh blood on day of testing (integrity is not maintained in stored samples at any temp)
