What was the purpose of the Qc. Act?
To make sure that the French speaking Quebecers would remain loyal and not join the Americans (13 Colonies) when they rebel against the British.
When was the Quebec Act?
1774
What changes were made to the territory of Quebec. with the Qc. Act?
It enlarged the territory (made it bigger) it gave them back the Ohio Valley Region. It also now included parts of the Labrador region.
What changes were made to the Laws in Quebec?
French civil laws would be followed and British Criminal laws.
How was the Catholic religion affected by the Qc. Act?
The French were now allowed to replace the Catholic Bishop when he dies.
How did the 13 Colonies react to the Qc. Act?
They were really upset.
(The 13 Colonies were being taxed and not granted more rights. They felt that it was very insulting to give the French so many rights when the 13 Colonists had been loyal and fought the French to get he land of Qc. for the British King.
