Medical management of anxiety
1) SSRI (sertraline, paroxetine)
2) SNRI (duloxetine, venlafaxine)
3) TCAs (do ECG before to check QT interval)
Propanolol can be used for the physical symptoms of anxiety in stage anxiety/exam anxiety. only in short term anxiety.
Risk of splenic rupture in EBV
- 1%
- if it happens 50% is spontaneous because of the size of the liver

Clue cells
Clue cells are epithelial cells covered by adherent gram-negative rods, observed in vaginal smears from women with bacterial vaginosis.
What could you see on microscopy of vaginal discharge in BV?

Management of BV
metronidazole 400 BD for 5-7d
or single dose of 2g if adherence will be an issue
can also offer topical treatment instead
oral clindamycin can be offered if allergic to metronidazole
What to inform about when prescribing metronidazole
- can get a bright red rash when drinking alcohol
- also headaches, dizziness, fevers etc.
- advise not to drink any alcohol
- no additional contraceptive measures required (unless there is vomiting/diarrhoea)
does partner need to be treated if a patient has BV?
- male no
- female yes
low b12 and low folate - replace which one first?
replace b12 first, then folate
something about acute degeneration of the cord.
