Antigout, inhibits Microtubule assembly
For Gout and Familial Mediterranean fever
SE: Agranulocytosis, Diarrhea (signal of toxicity)
Colchicine
Used in the initial treatment of gout as replacement for colchicine
Indomethacin
Antigout, uricosuric agent
Competes with uric acid for reabsorption in the proximal tubules
AE: Nephrotic Syndrome, Nephrolithiasis
May precipitate gout in the early stages (avoid with colchicine and indomethacin)
May be given with antimicrobial agents
Probenecid
Antigout Xanthine oxidase inhibitor IRREVERSIBLE inhibits Xanthine Oxidase 1st line tx for chronic gout SE: Cataracts, Aplastic Anemia Inhibits Mercaptopurine and Azathioprine
Allopurinol
Antigout Xanthine oxidase inhibitor
Non purine REVERSIBLE Xanthine oxidase inhibitor
Used for Allopurinol intolerance and Tumor Lysis Syndrome
SE: Liver Dysfunction
More effective than Allopurinol
