Treat hypoglycaemia (BGL <4mmol)

- Tissue necrosis if allowed to escape from the vein
- Hyperglycaemia/hyperosmolality

A
Known hypersensitivity

Glucose 10% - Doses
A
Adult & Paediatric - up to 2.5ml/kg (0.25g/kg) slowly over 5 minutes IV.
May repeat once if LOC of BGL has not improved

Glucose 10% - Notes
A
Patients who respond to 10% glucose should eat, to prevent later development of further hypoglycaemia.
